this. is. fmx. What is fmx?
fmx is the newest site on the web. It is a place where fans can connect with bands without being hindered by bogged down profiles and messy layouts. fmx provides the most innovative tools to help bands reach their more easily.
Our Mission
I want to provide the best environment for fans to connect with bands. Besides this, I want to make it easy for all the talented small bands to be found on the gargantuan internet.

fmx is a one man operation; It's a single member LLC. This is not your typical giant corporation centered around profit. I legitimately want to see fmx bands get money for what they love to do. If it didn't cost money to keep the site running, every band would keep every cent of a sale. I take pride in this site and that's all the reward I want, besides seeing the bands that sign up here succeed. I want to help small bands acheive exactly what they want: to make music, allow people to listen to it, and be recognized for their artistic abilities. I understand that it is hard to be noticed in such a globalized world, but fmx is here to make the globalized music market local.

I will listen to each and every comment that comes down the pike and seriously consider every single one. I want fmx to THE BEST tool for bands and fans alike. To that end, no suggestion will fall by the way side. I value every opinion and will consider and act on every one. No exceptions. I never cared for the bureaucracy of typical support, suggestion and feedback systems. They were never effective because the people that read comments, couldn't do anything about them. fmx is different. The person that reads comments is the person that owns the site. As soon as you contact the administrators group or send an email you jump right to the top of the chain. I want fmx to stay that small. Of course people will probably be brought in if fmx grows to such a large degree, but not many. fmx will stay small to easily accomodate anything that want.

That's my promise. That's my mission.
The benefits of fmx
pStore
I developed the fmx pStore (Portable Store) so that bands wouldn't be limited to selling their music only on fmx. The pStore allows bands to create a Flash object (on any page that allows Flash objects) that loads any songs that the band has selected as available for this. I have developed applications specifically for MySpace and Facebook that achieve the same outcome but are specially formulated for the MySpace and Facebook platforms.
Facebook Integration
fmx is the only music site fully integrated with Facebook. Individual users don't even need to register with fmx to use it, provided they have a Facebook account. This is possible through Facebook Connect. fmx publishes stories to your wall so that your friends can find out about fmx.
MySpace Integration
fmx is the only music site fully integrated with MySpace. Individual users and bands don't even need to register with fmx to use it, provided they have a MySpace account. This is possible through MySpaceID. fmx links your MySpace account with an fmx account to allow you to access fmx's features without having to be hasseled with another username and password.
No Ads
I am personally committed to providing the best experience for fmx's users. To do this, I have decided the best way for fans to interact with their favorite bands was to make the bands the main focus of the site. Therefore, there are no third party advertisements anywhere on fmx.
Completely Free
fmx is available to anyone completely free. You shouldn't have to pay to use any good product. I back myself up when I say that fmx is the BEST place to interact with your favorite bands and to search for new ones.
Everything in One Place
Things are easy to find when their all in one place. fmx combines social networking with the pleasure of music. To this end, you are able to fully interact with bands AND securely buy any music that may upload to fmx. You don't need to download any extraneous software or create multiple log-ins for multiple websites. Everything is on fmx.
CSS Editor
Unlike MySpace, which has very limited CSS support, and Facebook, which doesn't allow you to edit the CSS of your page, fmx allows any user to changed the look of their profile very easily through the integrated CSS editor. The CSS editor allows you personalize virtually any part of your profile while still keeping it neat and clean.
Unlimited .mp3 Uploads
Bands and record labels can upload as much music as they want with absolutely no size limit to our server (as long as it's an .mp3 file).
The BEST Music Player
fmx features a fully functioning music player. Unlike MySpace's popout player and Facebook, who doesn't have one, fmx's Custom Radio let's you search our entire library for music in order to create a playlist. You can save playlists so you can open them again and even search every playlist that's ever been created on fmx to find just the one you want. You can even shuffle the playlist. It's just a like a media player you would have as a program on your computer.
How did it start?
The idea for fmx was created about two years ago and has since then been redesigned, recoded, and overhauled...twice. Since the first version was launched in August 2008, the features have constantly been upgraded to provide the best experience.

fmx was born at the Chickie's and Pete's in Bordentown, NJ over dinner. My brother and I were just throwing out random ideas, many of which were predestined to fail. fmx though, had a different aura. It seemed like something that could have real potential. We noticed that it was hard for bands to be noticed in the ever increasing size of the music world and wanted to do something about it. There were alot of good bands in the town we lived and wanted to give their talent a fighting chance. We knew MySpace and Facebook already existed. But some bands on those sites were already signed. Besides that, they were HUGE! A small band still wouldn't able to be noticed. So we wanted to create a site that dedicated itself to publicizing small bands. fmx was thereby conceived.

That was all during a one hour dinner. As soon as I got home, I began spewing out designs. Of course they were all bad as I was a very underdeveloped web designer. Nevertheless, I looked at already established sites considered "well-designed" and tried to mimic their design while still having a completely original concept. Two designs were launched before the one in front of you right now was worked out as the site was coded.

So the coding marathon began. While coding fmx, I learned more about the internet and web languages than probably everyone that will ever use fmx combined. It took me two years to code fmx the way you see it now. And even after this, I'll still be coding it, improving it, redesigning it.

After two years, it was finally August 2008 and fmx was ready to be launched. Papers were filed and fmx became a legal limited liability corporation. It was quite possibly the proudest moment of my life. I hope that as you use fmx, you notice the amount of care and effort I put into possibly my biggest project ever. I personally thank you for ever reading this as most you probably won't. this. is. fmx.
